David Allen Block, 72, of Screven, passed away Monday afternoon, April 24, 2023, at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, FL.
Born in Michigan City, IN, November 13, 1950, he lived in Jacksonville as well as Pierce County for many years prior to moving to Screven in 2014. While living in Jacksonville, he worked for the JEA and later for Executone Telecommunications. When he moved to Pierce County he went to work for Flash Foods retiring in 2015. He was a “professional tinkerer”. He loved to travel and enjoyed his trip to Germany visiting with family. He was of the Lutheran faith.
He was a son of the late Edmund Edward and Margaret Dorthea Omey Block. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Susan Lee Brunson Block; his daughter, Christina Williamson; a son, David L. Block and his brother, Dennis Block.
Survivors include his son, Joseph Block, Screven; two sisters, Kathy Powell and Nancy Varga, both of Jacksonville; six grandchildren, Katlyn Severn, Skylar Norrell, Brandon Block, Logan Block, Michael Williamson and Jacob Williamson; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
