Pierce netters capture 5 of 8 matches

Pierce County’s volleyball Lady Bears capped an eight-match week hosting a Region 3-AA play date Saturday.

The Lady Bears (1315 overall, 6-2 region; 10-2 vs. Class AA or lower) went 5-3 during the stretch including 51 at home.

PCHS opened the week getting swept Tuesday, September 9 in Kingsland by Class 6A foes Richmond Hill and host Camden County. The Lady Bears fell 2512, 25-16 to Richmond Hill and 25-11, 25-19 to the host Lady Wildcats.

Pierce County ended a five-match losing streak Thursday, September 11, beating visiting Frederica Academy in a bestof- 5 match. PCHS prevailed 25-12, 25-11 and 26-24. The victory completed the season sweep of the Lady Knights following a 2-0 road win August 26.

The Lady Bears hosted the Saturday, September 13 region play date for all six teams. Pierce County knocked off Tattnall County 25-8, 25-6 after a 2-0 victory over the Lady Warriors August 12 at Brantley County.
