(The Patterson City Council discussed and/or voted on the following items during their monthly meeting Thursday, September 11. ) Water/sewer fees: The City of Patterson’s water and sewer rates will be increasing this month. The item was on the agenda to receive public comment on the rate increases. Basic rates for water increased by 50 cents to $2.50 per gallon up to 3,000 gallons. The per gallon rate increases in intervals from there based on usage. Basic rates for wastewater increased by 78 cents to $3.50 per gallon up to 3,000 gallons. The per gallon rate increases in intervals from there based on usage. No citizens attended the meeting to comment on the new rates.
Department reports: Police Chief Nick Strickland gave the police report. Dixon reported the department responded to 63 calls in August including 16 calls for service. The department made 45 traffic stops and issued 29 citations and investigated two accidents. Public Works Superintendent Tyler Stokes reported his department installed the new speed bumps on Tyre Bridge Road and hauled dirt for improvements underway at the tennis courts at the city park. Stokes also reported the fire department responded to 10 fire calls and a medical call during the month of August. Stokes announced the Patterson currently has four recruits in training to become firefighters. “If all four successfully complete training, that will bring us up to 21 volunteer firefighters in the City of Patterson. City Clerk Laura Kate Dixon had nothing to report.
