HOMERVILLE — Shirley Dawn Boyd Henderson Smith, 85 of Homerville and formerly of Waycross, died Sunday night, September 7, 2025 at Memorial Satilla Health after a short illness.

Mrs. Smith was born in Manor, Ga., to the late Wilber Charles Boyd and Betty Flor ance Revels Boyd. She was a 1958 graduate of Manor High School where she played on the basketball team.

Mrs. Smith continued her education at South Georgia College in Douglas and completed her Nursing degree. She lived in Valdosta for seven years and worked at South Georgia Medical Center and taught nursing classes in Valdosta.

Mrs. Smith lived most of her life in Waycross and worked at Clinch Memorial Hospital, Riverside Nursing Home, Baptist Village and retired from Satilla Regional Medical Center in 2008.

She was a member of the family church, Camp Branch Church of God of Prophecy and Crossview Church of God of Prophecy.

Along with her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by one sister, JoAnn Boyd; three brothers, Timothy Charles Boyd, Tommy Boyd and Emory Boyd.

Survivors include her husband, Shelton Smith of Homerville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Darran and Lynn Henderson of Hoboken, Anthony and Misty Henderson of Brantley County; six grandchildren, Brandon Henderson (fiancé Mandy Bell) of Gilmanton Iron Works, N.H., Darran Robert Henderson (Nora) of Waycross, Ashley Henderson of Lyons, Austin Henderson of Waycross, Noah Henderson of Brantley County and Payton Henderson of Blackshear; four great grandchildren, Emily, Cameron, Cayden and Caleb; one sister, Roselyn Connell of Waycross; one brother, Jimmy R. Boyd of Waycross; sister-in-law, Judy Boyd of Nicholls; two step-daughters, Cathy Wilson (Mack) of Argyle, and Kristen Pittman of Homerville; four step grandchildren, Brock Wilson, Brandon Wilson, Lily-Ana Pittman and Jonah Pittman; seven step great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service was held Thursday morning, September 11, 2025, at Camp Branch Church of God of Prophecy in Manor.

Burial followed in the church cemetery.
