BCMS X-country teams 7th and 8th at Jeff Davis meet

HAZLEHURST — Brantley County Middle School’s cross-country teams competed here Thursday in the Southern Georgia X-Country Championship hosted by Jeff Davis Middle School.

The Lady Herons finished sixth in the September 11 10-team girls’ event finishing with 172 points. Richmond Hill Middle School took the title with 22 points.

The Lady Wildcats were followed by host Jeff Davis Middle School (56), Pierce County Middle School (112), Coffee Middle School (119), Vidalia Middle School (130), Brantley County Middle School (172), Tattnall County Middle School (204), Toombs County Middle School (204), Treutlen Middle School (230) and Lanier County Middle School (269).

Brantley Middle was led by EmmaLee Herrin’s 12th-place finish with a time of 15:14 in the field of 94 runners. The winning time was 12:37.70.

Herrin was followed by Maggie Coddington (47th; 17:47.40), London Bosquez (48th; 17:52.90), Harlow Dixon (71st; 21:32), Hallee Drury (73rd; 21:41.30), Autumn Worley (75th; 21:45.40) and Miah Williams (88th; 26:35.20).

The Herons placed eighth in the 10team boys meet totaling 183 points. Richmond Hill Middle’s Wildcats made it a sweep winning with 43 points. They were followed by Jeff Davis Middle (50), Vidalia Middle (92), Coffee Middle (125), Tattnall Middle (149), Toombs County Middle (152), Pierce Middle (161), Brantley Middle (183), Treutlen Middle (232) and Lanier Middle (313).

Cason Anderson and Jace Hunnicutt led the Herons placing 27th and 28th respectively with times of 13:51.60 and 13:52 in the field of 126 runners. The winning time was 12:16.30.

They were followed by Sawyer Harrelson (42nd; 14:39.20), Aiden Gilleon (54th; 15:15), Kane Barnes &60th; 15:24.70), Carter Kelly (64th; 15:46.90), Kaden Gilley (75th; 16:17.60), Jaxon Carter (78th; 16:25.40), Tyler Kelly (80th; 16:28.20), Jace Anderson (104th; 17:38.70), Nate Kelly (101st; 18:34.20), Tryston Lyons (103rd; 18:40.80), Dalson Stokes (107th; 19:40) and Hayden Altman (116th; 22:11.90).
