Commissioners approved awarding the low bid for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) on Chapel Circle, Chapel Drive, Tornado Road and Murray Hill Road at their regular meeting last Tuesday night.
Scruggs Company was the low bidder in the amount of $1,081,866.99. Other bidders were East Coast Asphalt in the amount of $1,096,380.81 and Thrift Brothers in the amount of $1,226,563.26.
The grant was awarded in 2023 by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.
The grant will be used to make street and drainage improvements in the area.
The CDBG will fund about $1 million and the county will provide about $641,000 in matching funds.
The work will cover about 1.449 miles of roadway on the four roads.
