No. 10 Lady Herons fall to Class 5A ninth-ranked Coffee

Tenth-ranked Brantley County split a pair of nonregion games falling at home and winning on the road.

The Lady Herons (6-5) had their four-game winning streak snapped when visiting Class 5A ninthranked Coffee rallied for a 7-5 victory Tuesday, September 2.

Brantley County traveled to Brunswick Monday, September 8 to face Class 5A seventh-ranked Glynn Academy. The Lady Herons hosted Class A DI third-ranked Bacon County in Game 1 of the three-game region series Tuesday, September 9.

The series shifts to Alma for a doubleheader Thursday, September 11.

CANEY BAY — The Lady Trojans scored its seven runs over the final two innings overcoming a 1-0 deficit to beat Brantley County.

The story of the game was Coffee’s Maggie Brown recording 19 of the 21 outs via strikeout. She needed 130 pitches in the complete game performance.

BCHS, after leaving the bases loaded in the second on singles by Caiden Jones (1-for-4) and Jayden Lewis (3-for-3) and a walk to Reagan Mclain, broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth.

Braylee Grant reached on a one-out dropped third strike with Lewis reaching on an infield hit. Grant’s courtesy runner Chloe Johns. moved to third on an error and scored on a two-out theft of home for a 1-0 lead.

Held scoreless for five innings by Mary Hall (5.2 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 5 K, 4 BB, 1 WP), the Lady Trojans plated four runs in the top of the sixth in taking a 4-1 lead.
