Pierce County High School (PCHS) is gearing up for an exciting Homecoming Week from September 22 to 26, embracing the 'Bearchella' theme. The festivities will commence with a parade on Monday, September 22, at 6:30 p.m., starting at Emmanuel Baptist Church on W. Carter Ave. and proceeding down Main Street to the Board of Education office/Tiger Field. Parade entry forms are available by emailing [email protected] or by picking one up at the PCHS office. There is no cost to enter the parade; however, entry forms are required to participate and are due by 3 p.m. on Friday, September 19. General rules for the parade include: No semis or other big/tall vehicles that have limited ground visibility or braking issues are allowed. All entries must be decorated in the parade theme. No spinning out, excessive noise, dangerous, or boisterous behavior is allowed. Live animals must be preapproved and must be bagged - no waste can be left in staging areas or along parade route. No trash, debris, etc. can be left in the staging area. Smoking is not allowed in the staging areas or along the parade route. Participants must provide their own vehicles and drivers. Insurance and liability are the sole responsibility of participants. All groups with more than five participants MUST meet off-site and arrive at the parade staging area as a group with entry fully decorated and ready for lineup. All parade entries (not just floats) must be decorated. Units not decorated will be turned away. Several activities are planned for the week at PCHS. Dress-up days include Colorchella Monday, with class colors: white for freshmen, gray for sophomores, black for juniors, and blue for seniors. Tuesday will be band t-shirt day. Boho, featuring a flower child and festival flair, will be Wednesday’s theme. Thursday’s theme is neon day with brightest, loudest colors and Friday will be spirit mode with blue and silver school colors. PCHS Homecoming is set for Friday, September 26, with the Bears facing off against Vidalia. The culmination of homecoming week will be the crowning of the queen at halftime. The annual homecoming dance will be held after the game in the PCHS Courtyard. Finalists for the homecoming court include seniors Olivia Bennett, Addie Brown, Ava Doss, Lilah Hall, Hanna Jordan, Mattie Lee, Belle Sinclair, Claire Murray, Danica Salas, Mylee Simmons, Reegan Smith, and Mollie Williams. Members of the junior court are Mary Kenlee Carden, Daisy Cruz, Mollie Kate Dixon, Sarah Kate Echols, Sophia Nystrom, and Abby Reese Wright.
