Ware County’s Board of Commissioners approved Statewide Engineering, Inc., for its 2025 CBDG grant, 2026 LMIG projects and SAP Grant.
The county has $1,000,000 in Community Development Block Grant funding for FY25, $1,273,448.87 funding for the FY26 Local Maintenance & Improvement Grant (LMIG), and $372,110 for SAP.
A SAP grant refers to funding awarded for specific projects or programs, managed using the SAP Grants Management module.
“I just like to say on that SAP grant, I think that’s something that the (county) manager (James Shubert) pursued,” said Commissioner Leonard Burse. “I believe, as far as the striping, him and his staff, secured this grant. So I just want to thank them for that. Striping and signage is something we definitely and desperately need in a lot of places.”
Shubert explained to the commissioners why Statewide Engineers was receiving the recommendation for the work and not other engineers.
“Back in January, the commission approved Statewide as the engineer for that CDBG grant,” the county manager said. “ Part of the 2026 LMIG funds will be used towards the 2025 CDBG.
“SAP is going to be tied into some of these LMIG roads. It just makes sense to have one engineer handle all three of those functions so I’m not having to deal with two or three different engineers. They’ll (Statewide) let it (appoint lowest bid) for us as well. We’re having proof of pain to do all that.”
The commission unanimously approved the appointment of Statewide Engineers, LLC., for the project.
