Ware County Fire Rescue is going gold in a powerful show of solidarity and compassion in honor of September being Childhood Cancer Awareness month.
The department is joining the nationwide movement to raise awareness for the devastating disease, which has touched the lives of several families in Ware County.
Childhood cancer is a battle no family should face alone. In Ware County, they won’t have to.
“We’ve seen this evil strike our community more than once,” said a Ware County Fire Rescue spokesperson. “During the month of September, we will not allow these families to stand alone. We stand with them, shoulder-to-shoulder, in bringing awareness to this terrible disease.”
Throughout the month, residents can expect to see gold ribbons, decals and displays on trucks, uniforms and stations across the county. The color gold symbolizes strength, courage and resilience — the very qualities these young warriors and their families embody every day.
No One Fights Alone The department’s message is clear: No one fights alone. Ware County Fire Rescue is committed not only to emergency response, but to being a source of hope and support for the community in times of crises.
By going gold, they’re amplifying the voices of those affected and reminding everyone that awareness leads to action — and action saves lives.
To the families who have faced this unimaginable challenge, Ware County Fire Rescue wants you to know: You have our support. We are here to help fight this evil disease.
Residents are encouraged to wear gold, share stories and participate in local events throughout September to show their support.
Together, Ware County stands united in the fight against childhood cancer.
