WAYCROSS — Mr. Donald Theodore De La Vergne, 73, of Waycross died Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at his residence.
De La Vergne was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to the late Edward Stewart De La Vergne and Rita Bousquet De La Vergne. H e worked for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department before taking a job with CSX Transportation and moving to Waycross over 45 years ago.
De La Vergne left CSX to pursue other careers and most recently was working as a private investigator for the Federal Government. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Waycross. His two loves in life were his family and animals. His family loved and cherished him, and animals throughout the community had better lives due to his compassion and devotion.
Along with his parents, De La Vergne was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Ormsbee and Ed De La Vergne.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Charlotte De La Vergne of Waycross; two daughters, Marie Bogart of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Robin Beverly and her husband Randall of Waycross; two grandchildren, Spencer Hudson and Ryann Vickers; one great grandchild, Alex Valdez and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
De La Vergne will be greatly missed by his family, friends and fur babies.
A graveside service was’held in Oakland Cemetery.
