WAYCROSS — Mrs. Cecilia Herrin Mincey passed away peacefully Friday evening, August 29, 2025 at Satilla Hospice House.

A lifelong resident of Waycross, she was born on December 9, 1943 to the late David Carson Herrin and Winnie Mae Johnston Herrin.

Mrs. Mincey retired from Memorial Satilla Health as the patient representative. In 2014, she received Mayo Clinic’s Mae Berry Service Award in Rochester, Minnesota. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Waycross where she sang in the choir. Mrs. Mincey enjoyed cooking, cleaning, and gardening. She loved attending sporting events and cheering on her favorite

teams.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn Herrin Smith and Cathryn Herrin Morris.

Survivors include her daughter, Chrisie Skipper of Waycross; her son, Jerry Mincey II (wife Amanda) of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Hunter Skipper (wife Madeline) of Blackshear, Hoke Skipper of Blackshear, Isabella Mincey of Tampa, Fla., and Jake Mincey of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Carlton Herrin (wife Betty) of Darien and Les Herrin of Newberry, S.C.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Oakland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations made to Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross 31501.

We would like to acknowledge and thank Hospice Satilla, Hospice House Satilla and Village Lake Suites at Baptist Village for the abundance of love and care given to our mom. The work you do is amazing and we will forever be grateful.
