Netters falter in three matches

Pierce County lost three of its four matches with all four ending in two-set sweeps.

The Lady Bears (810) lone victory pushed their mark above .500 (8-7) for the first time with an eighth win in 10 matches. PCHS downed homestanding GIAA (Georgia Independent School Association) AAA Frederica Academy (1-8) 25-16, 26-24 in the first match Tuesday, August 26.

GAPPS (Georgia Association of Private and Parochial Schools) member Habersham School (14-5) of Savannah held off Pierce County 25-22, 25-21 in the second match.

PCHS traveled to Valdosta Thursday, August 28 to face Class 6A host Lowndes (154) and Class 5A Brunswick (13-3). The Lady Pirates posted a 25-13, 28-26 victory for its second sweep of the season against Pierce County.

The Lady Vikettes notched a 25-15, 25-13 win in the second match.

Pierce County has just one play date this week traveling Thursday, September 4 to Statesboro to face the Lady Blue Devils and Effingham County Lady Rebels.

The Lady Bears will play in Kingsland Tuesday, September 9 against host Camden County and Richmond Hill. PCHS will entertain Frederica Academy and Region 3 mate Tattnall County Thursday, September 11.

Pierce County will play host to a region roundrobin Saturday, September 13 with Tattnall County, Appling County, Crisp County, Cook and Savannah Arts coming to town.
