Waters re-elected as state secretary of GA Assoc. of Conservation Districts

Pierce County resident Jim Waters was re-elected as secretary of the Georgia Association of Conservation Dist ricts (GACD) at the organi zation’s annual meeting on Jekyll Island last week.

As secretary, Waters will continue to assist with leading GACD in their work with federal and state partners of the United States Department of Agriculture and with all 40 Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Districts to promote the conservation of natural resources. Waters is also a District Supervisor and Chairman of the Satilla River Conservation District.

A lifelong resident of Pierce County, Waters stays involved with local organizations, serving as president of Pierce County Farm Bureau, chairman of the Satilla River Soil and Water Conservation District and as a member of Satilla EMC Board of Directors. Other affiliations include being co-owner of Five Points Lawn Center and an active member of Blackshear First Baptist Church.

Waters resides in Blackshear with his wife, Jerrian, daughter, Katie, and son, A. J. They farm row crops, blueberries and pecans. He also does land clearing, grading and demolition.

The mission of GACD is to advocate for the conservation of Georgia’s natural resources by providing organization, leadership and a unified strategic direction to the Conservation Districts of the state.
