Marie ‘Diane’ Altman Nichols

HOBOKEN – Marie “Diane” Altman Nichols, 68 of Hoboken, passed away Monday evening, August 25, 2025 at Memorial Health University in Savannah after a brief illness.

Born in Waycross, her Mrs. Nichols’ parents were Noah G. Altman and Frances Dyals Altman. She is also preceded in death by a sister, Mars h a Strickland; and a brother, Terry Altman.

Mrs. Nichols was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. She loved her dog, Remi, and her family and friends dearly, but most of all she loved her husband who was her high school sweetheart since the 8th grade.

Mrs. Nichols never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone and was a mother to every child she met. She enjoyed playing card games and doing the card ministry.

Survivors include her husband, David Nichols of Hoboken; her sister, Linda Crews of Hoboken; her brother and sister-inlaw, Gary Altman (Susan) of Hoboken; two aunts, Dorothy Stone of Waycross and Gennie Townsend of St. Mary’s; her best friend, Diane Lake (Joe) of Nahunta; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

A funeral service was held Friday morning, August 29, 2025 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Austin Lane, Rev. Mike Yawn and Rev. Larry

Burial followed in High Bluff Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Kevin Thomas, Justin Dixon, Caleb Morgan, Austin Altman, Jason Lee, Paul Lee, Kaleb Lee and Curt Boyd.

Honorary pallbearers will be everyone that attends the funeral.

Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
