Satilla Advocacy attends conferences

Special to The Beacon

Satilla Advocacy Services was awarded a grant enabling staff and key community partners to attend two national conferences on Child Protection.

The Krimes Against Kids Conference was held in Orlando, Fla., while the Crimes Against Children Conference was held in Dallas, Texas.

Both nationally recognized conferences are premier training opportunities for professionals dedicated to protecting children and supporting victims of abuse and exploitation.

Hosted annually, these events bring together experts from across the country to lead workshops, share best practices and provide hands-on training for those working in child advocacy, child protective services, law enforcement, education, and social services.

Thanks to the generous grant funding, not only was the Satilla Advocacy Services team able to participate, but the organization also covered travel and attendance costs for 16 of its multi-disciplinary partners.

These partners represent a range of sectors essential to child protection efforts, including law enforcement, the Department of Family & Children Services, and the Ware County School System. This financial support for community partners to attend ensures that knowledge and best practices continue to be shared across multiple disciplines in our region.

By investing in professional development and cross-disciplinary collaboration, Satilla Advocacy Services continues its mission to provide hope, healing and protection for children and families throughout Southeast Georgia.

Satilla Advocacy Services is a nonprofit organization formed in 1998 to provide services for sexual assault survivors in Ware, Pierce and surrounding counties.

Staff and volunteers are trained in the legal and medical aspects of rape crisis intervention for survivors of all ages.
