James ‘Twyman’ Vickers

James “Twyman” Vickers, 78, of Jesup, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2025. 
A native of Alma, he had lived most of his adult life in Wayne County and was a member and deacon of Anderson Drive Baptist. He was a 35-year retired boilermaker with Local Lodge 26 out of Statesboro.  He was most known for his love of people and selling his fresh Georgia shrimp to everyone.  He lived what he preached whether fishing or hunting or “chewing the fat” with so many of his friends.
His parents, J.D. and Dora Lee Vickers preceded him in death along with his former wife, Velma Vickers and a sister, Kay Boyette.
Survivors are his wife of 25 years, Faye Phillips Vickers,  Jesup; four children, David Vickers, Keith Vickers and Terri Vickers, all of Jesup and Shane (Becky) Tabb, Jesup; sister, Diane (Jim) Luke, Waycross; brother, Jack (Debra) Vickers, Darien; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, August 29, at the funeral home.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 30, from the Rinehart Chapel with the Revs. George Paulk and Vic Peacock officiating.
Interment will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery in Blackshear.
Active pallbearers will be his family.
Honorary pallbearers will be “all who loved him.”
Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup is in charge of arrangements.
