HORTENSE — Brian Sweat, 58 of Hortense, passed away Tuesday August 19, 2025, at his residence.
Sweat was born January 31, 1967 i n Gainesville, Fla., to Alvin Troy Sweat and Alma Leola McDuffie Sweat. He had lived most of his life in Brunswick. Sweat also lived in Guyton and Savannah from 1997 until 2018 before moving to Hortense, where he has lived for the past six years.
Sweat was an industrial painter. He loved all animals and was a member of the ASPC, and of the Baptist Faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Troy Sweat; his mother, Alma Leola McDuffie Bunkley; and siblings, Jimmy Nix, Willie Nix, Vernon Sweat, Timmy Sweat, Kenny Sweat and Myra Faye Sweat.
Survivors include his siblings, Lena Wiggins (Kevin) of Darien, Greg Sweat (Kristi) of Brunswick, Faye Sweat, Lana Folts (Jeff) and Kathye McCullar, all of Brantley County; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A gathering to celebrate Sweat’s life will be held Sunday, August 31, 2025 at the Chapman Event Center, 6045 Golden Isles Parkway, Brunswick, from 3:00pm until 6:00pm.
Chapman Funeral Chapel of Brunswick was in charge of arrangements.
