The Blackshear Exchange Club recently hosted Blackshear Police Chief Chris Wright and Main Street/Better Hometown Manager Bethany Strickland.
Wright spoke about the new city APP available under “Blackshear Police Department”. Designed to keep everyone “informed, connected and empowered”, residents can use the app to report nonemergency concerns, stay updated with public safety alerts, access important resources, submit tips anonymously and learn more about the services and programs provided to the public,.
Strickland spoke about and provided dates for several upcoming events, including: ▪ Sept 22 Pierce County Homecoming Parade ▪ Oct 30 Trick or Treating in the Park ▪ Nov 8 The Pecan Festival of GAsponsored by The Blackshear Exchange Club ▪ Nov 11 Veterans Day Celebration ▪ Dec 1 Community Chamber Chow ▪ Dec 8 Pierce County Christmas Parade ▪ Dec 11 Christmas Makers Market “There is also another Beats and Eats scheduled for the spring,” said Strickland. “ Stay tuned for more details, as this has been a huge success.”
The Main Street/Better Hometown Blackshear Program is a non-profit 501c6 organization. Public events, grants, scholarships and downtown beautification projects have been made possible through the contributions of local businesses and families.
