Attorney and State Court Judge Dan Bennett Jr. was a recent guest speaker of the Rotary Club. Bennett reminded club members that a healthy organization such as Rotary is made up of healthy members – healthy in all aspects. He encouraged the club, using lessons learned from the life of Old Testament prophet Elijah, to be mindful of their spiritual, mental and emotional health as well as physical wellness. “Don’t withdraw” in valley moments of life, but continue to engage with each other because there is strength in community, Bennett advised. Rotary has “more work to do” he reminded the club, recalling Rotary’s legacy of service to Blackshear and Pierce County, and the impactful members who have led the Club in past decades. When feeling emotional and mental exhaustion, Bennett advised Club members to keep up their good works, but “walk away from the noise” and find a quiet place when needed.
