BLACKSHEAR — Mr. Henry Lee Sylvester I, 79 of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday morning,

Sylvester

August 12, 2025, at his residence.

Born October 21, 1945 in Nahunta, Sylvester grew up in Fernandina Beach, Fla., but lived in Pierce County for the past 40 years. He worked for the Pierce County Road Department for many years before becoming a truck driver and retiring from Wall Timber.

He loved watching NASCAR, fixing things, and being with his wife whether it was riding around, walking on the beach or just talking. Sylvester had a very funny sense of humor and loved being a jokester.

He attended Bethel Baptist Church.

Sylvester was a son of the late Durward E. and Susan Chancey Sylvester. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Jean Martin, Virginia Williamson and Belle Sylvester; and two brothers, Joe and Bob Sylvester.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Mary Boston Sylvester of Blackshear; three daughters, Cindy Sylvester and Lucretia Sylvester both of Yulee, Fla., and Amber (Kevin) Hutchinson of Palatka, Fla.; three stepdaughters, Maria Tittle of Amelia Island, Connie Whitley of Charlotte, N.C., and Hope Colson of Orlando, Fla.; a son, Henry L. Sylvester II of Las Vegas; a sister, Naomi Durbin of Waycross; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A graveside funeral service was held Monday afternoon, August 18, 2025, from Shiloh Cemetery with Rev. Monroe Gill officiating.
