
Sean Fredrick Harvey, 67, of Millwood, passed away Friday, August 15, 2025, at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross.
Born in Knoxville, TN June 14, 1958, he lived in Pierce County for many years before moving to Millwood three years ago. He was a 1976 graduate of Valdosta High School where he played football for the Wildcats. After graduation, he enrolled at Valdosta Technical Institute where he obtained his degree in welding. Over the years, he worked for Langdale Lumber Company followed by First Line America as a machinist. He would go on to work at UTLX and GATX as a welder. For a brief time, he was able to fulfill a life-long dream of working on ships at Naval Station Jacksonville. He would return to GATX where he retired. He was an avid gun and knife collector, enjoyed riding his motorcycle, hunting and being with his family. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church where he was in the Adult Sunday School Class.
He was the son of the late Frederick Eston and Bobbie Marcelle Abel Harvey. He was also preceded in death by two infant sisters-in-law, and by a brother-in-law, Andy Carter.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Latrelle Carter Harvey, Millwood; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Billy Jones, Cedartown and Angela and Michael Thomas, Waycross; three sisters, Iris Weaver, Greensboro, AL, and Sharon Harvey and Anna Harvey, both of Valdosta; a special sister-in-law, Judy Carter, Valdosta; two brothers-in-law, Marty Carter and Clint Carter (Rhea Lynn), all of Statenville; five grandchildren, Nathan Jones (Lanee Durr), Alexis (Thomas) Dameron, Christian Jones, Sean Hunter Watson and Carter Brady; two great-grandchildren, Opal Jones and Billy Ray Cash Dameron; a great-granddaughter due in November, Esme` Jones and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, from the Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Summers officiating.
