NAHUNTA — David John Harrell, age 71 of Nahunta, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
Harrell was born September 20, 1953 in Sumpter, S.C. to Benjamin Fredrick Harrell and Marj orie Louise Harrell. He was a devoted husband, loving father and cherished brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Fredrick Harrell and Marjorie Louise Harrell.
Harrell is survived by his wife of 44 years, Karen Harrell; his daughter, Georjanna Harrell (Mike Klodnicki); his son, Toby Harrell (Taylor Harrell); his brother, B. Fred Harrell III.
Harrell graduated with an MBA from Valdosta State College. He started his career at Scientific Atlanta in accounting and concluded his tenure there as an operations manager. After moving back home to Jacksonville, Fla., in 1992, he worked in consulting until retiring to Nahunta in 2002.
Harrell enjoyed shotgun sports. He did not enjoy golf although he regularly played, and he loved his bird dogs.
A funeral service was held August 8, 2025 at Frye Funeral Home.
Internment was held at New Hope Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Nahunta Global Methodist Church building fund in Harrell’s memory.
Harrell will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
