Pat Park was named citize of the year as the Pierce County Chamber of Commerce announced its 2022 Community Award Winners during a press conference last Thursday, March 28, at Blackshear City Hall.
In addition to Park, recognition was given to Stewart Candy Company as business leader of the year, Christi Pitts as the Leona Dixon Bright Spot Award winner, Malayna Wetherington winner of the S. Dow Nimmer Jr. award, Paige King as winner of the Dr. Katherine Hendry Community Health Award, Farmer of the Year went to brothers, Orin and Phillip Bennett and John Ratliff was named as the Huel P. Walker Educator of the Year recipient.
The event comes ahead of the Chamber’s 68th annual gala and awards April 13 at the Blackshear Train Depot. This year’s theme — Pierce the Night under Havana Lights— seeks to transport attendees to Cuba. The gala will begin at 6 p.m. Tickets are $50 and guests are asked to RSVP to 912-449-7044 prior to April 7.
