Bertie’s Corner

Bertie’s Corner

Hello to you!

First, I need to let y’all know I finally have my phone back from the shop.

You can call me at (912) 2827473.

Here is the news for this week. ***** We are glad the heat is gone — if just for a little while. The last week has been mild and rainy. ***** To the Ja’meria Studivent family: You have our condolences. We will keep your family in our prayers.

I will lift up my eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. Psalms 121:1 ***** Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church revival will be this week at 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 13- Friday, August 15. Revival time theme is: “A Season of Spiritual Awakening”. Guest speaker is Apostle Douglas Burgess of Savannah. You are welcome. The church is located at 2808 Piney Grove Road, Blackshear. ***** Session Hill Community Center will be sponsoring a town hall meeting from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, August 30, at the center, located at 3105 Allen Avenue, Blackshear. Come and meet with Commissioner Troy Mattox, District 1. The public is cordially invited to come, have breakfast and discuss community concerns with Commissioner Mattox.

Also, Dr. Dee Dee Carr will present information about living wills, pre funeral planning. Breakfast will be available for a donation of $10. For more information contact Stephon Collins 404-4922632. ***** Hello Pierce County and surrounding residents, When I look at our country and communities, one of the first things that comes into my mind is the devastation of our economy. What are our leaders doing to us currently? First, if any of you have been wronged or have lost anything through the NAACP, please accept my apologies that it happened. The situation is that I can’t do much about it. It’s just like our country. Listen, rent and housing costs are soaring to an outrageous amount.

We’re losing jobs from the federal government to the local cities. We’re also losing our children who are in trouble and getting no help. But still we’re asked to maintain. We as citizens have a way to begin to fight back on some situations that are affecting our families, communities and neighborhoods. It costs $30 a year to become a member of the NAACP. I, along with others, want to get back control of the local Pierce County NAACP Branch, which can help in some areas. Will you consider it today? Give us a chance to help or at least try. Again, my apologies for yesterday's hurt. Give me, Charles Broady, a call at 912-5482656 ***** Kingdom Faith Church has services every Sunday at 10 a.m. and Bible Study every Tuesday at 6 p.m. Kingdom Faith is located at 6014 Homestead Road in Blackshear. Elder Tony Reynolds is the pastor. ***** Your entire family is invited to worship with Fourth Mount Olive Church during weekly worship services. We are located at 900 Yeomans Street, Blackshear. We are blessed to be able to provide opportunities for all to learn how to love God and each other as we worship God our Father, Jesus Our Savior and the Holy Spirit our Comforter and Guide. We start promptly at 10 a.m. Come see for yourself, you will be glad you did. ***** Positive thoughts: In life, make every minute count for your good. ***** To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: – Ecclesiastes 3: 1 ***** If you have any news for Bertie’s corner, please call me at (912) 282-7473 or email bertiecornerblktime23b7@ gmail.com.
