Pierce volleyball team drops 5 of 6 matches to start year

Pierce County’s volleyball Lady Bears have struggled coming out of the game dropping five of their first six matches to open the 2025 campaign.

PCHS (1-5) opened the season Thursday, August 7 at Thomas County Central in a three-team match that included Valdosta.

The Lady Bears fell 25-20, 21-25, 1517 to the Class 5A Lady Yellow Jackets and 25-20, 25-17 to the Class 6A Lady Wildcats.

Pierce County participated Saturday, August 9 in a tournament at Lowndes High finishing 1-3 for the day.

The Lady Bears opened with Class 4A Perry falling 18-25, 25-20, 8-15. Class 5A Houston County followed with a 2518, 18-25, 6-15 come-from-behind victoy.

PCHS dropped a 25-16, 25-21 decision to Class 5A Brunswick before picking up its first win downing Class 6A Colquitt County 25-10, 25-19.

The Lady Bears traveled Tuesday, August 12 to Brantley County for a threeteam match that includes Tattnall County. They go to Cordele Thursday, August 14 to face host Crisp County and Mary Persons.

Pierce County plays Tuesday, August 19 in Tifton against host Tift County and Ware County. The Lady Bears will be at home Thursday, August 21 hosting Appling County and Brantley County.
