Danny Varnadore, coach for South Georgia State College’s new rodeo team, recently spoke to the Blackshear Rotary Club about the new program. The team is the first collegiate rodeo team in Georgia. Since March, Varnadore has signed 15 student athletes who will compete in 10 different rodeo events. Varnadore, a former professional bull rider, is excited about the opportunity this program will provide young athletes from the Southeast to compete closer to home. Varnadore says community support has been great – from those who donated places to practice to empty barns for housing horses. Pictured above are (l-r) Rotarian Brent Waters and Danny Varnadore.
