PIERCE COUNTY — Mr. Donald Dovin Merritt, Jr., 63, died Wednesday morning, August 6, 2025, at his residence in Pierce County.
Merritt was born on March 29, 1962 in Homerville to the late Donald Dovin Merritt, Sr. and Rose Annie Matthews Merritt. Merritt retired from Gillis Bros. Inc. as a truck driver. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to the mountains, and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Survivors include his son, Donald Sean Merritt of Waycross; his daughter, Donna Michelle Merritt of Brunswick; grandchildren, Emileigh Henson, Amelia Merritt, Bentley Henson, and Matthew Henson; his mother, Rose Annie Matthews Merritt of Waycross; two sisters, Dorothy Taft (David) of Waresboro, and Cynthia King (Chris) of Jacksonville, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was Saturday, August 9 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in The Church of God Cemetery in Millwood.
