The Ware County Board of Elections and Registration has partner ed with the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) in its effort to poll workers for upcoming elections.
Local board officials and staff members celebrated National Poll Worker Recruitment Day Tuesday, August 12.
Launched in 2020, this nationwide initiative addresses the ongoing need for poll workers, promotes civic participation, and ensures that elections remain safe, secure, accurate, and accessible for all voters.
“Poll workers are the backbone of the election process,” said Carlos Nelson, Elections Supervisor. “Ahead of this November’s election, we ‘re excited to spotlight National Poll Worker Recruitment Day to raise awareness of the local need for poll workers and the critical role they play in ensuring a smooth voting experience for every voter.” Poll workers are responsible for tasks such as setting u p polling places, greeting voters, verifying voter registrations, and issuing ballots. The Ware County Elections Office provides comprehensive training to those interested in participating to ensure all poll workers are well-prepared to assist voters and maintain the integrity of the election process.
“Poll workers are our friends, family, church members, and neighbors,” said Chairman Danny Bartlett. “They’re community members who step up to guide voters through the election process. We encourage anyone who is able to consider joining us to help Ware County vote.”
National Poll Worker Recruitment Day serves as a reminder civic engagement is vital to the democratic process. Recruiting poll workers ensures that local elections continue to run smoothly and efficiently.
