PCHS Bears baseball defeats Vidalia Indians twice

It was a triumphant week for Pierce County High School baseball, with two wins over Vidalia.

The Bears returned to the diamond Wednesday (March 29) and pulled a 5-2 win over their rivals from Vidalia.

 Pitcher Jones Herrin  had  a strong showing with 7.0 innings pitched (IP) and throwing 79 pitches. Herrrin allowed just two runs on three hits, five strikeouts (K) and one walk (BB).

Notable performances from hitters included Auburn Walker (1-3, one run scored), Cole Royer (1-1 with double, two runs scored, two BBs), Caden McGatha (1-3, 2 RBIs) and Emmitt Hall (1-3 with double, three runs batted in (RBI)).

Thursday (March 30) brought a rematch with Vidalia, who put up a fight and shrank the Bears’ margin of victory (8-6).

McGatha was at the mound pitching for the Bears. McGatha ended the night with 3.1 IP, two hits, three runs, four K and two BBs.

Notable hitters were Hall (2-4, two doubles, two RBIs), Walker (2-4, RBI, run scored), Royer (1-3, three RBIs), Caden Williams- (1-3, RBI, run scored) and Herrin (1-3, double, two runs scored).

A scheduled game against Vidalia last Monday (March 27) was canceled due to lightning. A new date is to be determined.

The Bears are next set to play tomorrow (April 6) in a home game against Morgan.
