NAHUNTA — Department reports and a comment about the City of Nahunta’s Centennial Celebration were discussed during Monday’s monthly city council meeting.
City Manager Tom Wirth stood in for Police Chief Brad Todd the August 4 meeting. Wirth said there were 272 E911 calls, 194 traffic stops, 89 citations issued, 105 warnings issued, nine incident reports filed, four accident reports filed and seven arrests made.
Jeremy Ryan gave the Public Works report stating there were 609 work orders for the month of July. He also gave an update regarding the rattlesnake issue at 85 Dude Circle, stating the city is taking the necessary precautions to improve the situation.
City Clerk Angie Wirth gave her congratulations on Nahunta celebrating its Centennial. She also thanked all who put in endless amounts of hard work and dedication towards the festivities, despite the scorching heat.
“We had a lot of people participating every day and I was very, very happy,” she said. “City Hall and the Public Works Department were amazing and were with us every step of the way.'
Wirth also brought up planning ahead for the Homecoming Parade, which will take place Monday, September 22 at 6:30 p..m.
She also talked about the Trunk or Treat event, which will take place Thursday, October 30 because Brantley County will have home football game and the annual Georgia-Florida game is Saturday, November 1.
Lastly, a Christmas Party at L.L. Creek was also discussed, but there was no definitive date set at the moment.
The next Nahunta City Council meeting will be Tuesday, September 2 at 7 p.m.
