Dr. Dye, Callender join SGHS

Special to the WJH As part of its ongoing commitment to expanding access to health care throughout the region, Southeast Georgia Health System has opened a new multi-specialty medical office in Waycross.

The facility, located at 2100 Riverside Avenue, Suite C, will house Southeast Georgia Physician Associates – Urology and Southeast Georgia Physician Associates – Pulmonary Medicine, bringing care to a growing area.

James Dye, MD, a board-certified urologist with more than three decades experience, will lead the urology practice. Well known in the Waycross area, Dye has long provided care to patients in the region.

He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of urinary conditions. Dye earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia, and his medical degree from Augusta University’s Medical College of Georgia.

He completed his residency training at The University of Alabama in Birmingham.

Also serving patients at the new location is boardcertified pulmonologist Charles Callender, MD, who provides pulmonary care services. Callender joined the Brunswickbased practice in 2022 and now brings his clinical expertise and patient-centered approach to the Waycross community.

Callender holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Yale University and a medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. He completed his internal medicine residency at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., followed by fellowships in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.

His areas of focus include respiratory distress syndrome, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, pulmonary hypertension, sarcoidosis, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and tuberculosis.

This expansion reflects Southeast Georgia Health System’s mission to provide advanced, compassionate care to more communities across the region. The addition of urology and pulmonary medicine services in the area ensures patients can receive specialized care close to home — eliminating the need to travel long distances.

For an appointment with the urology service, call (912) 809-5112. To schedule an appointment with pulmonary medicine, call (912) 466-5504.
