John Harley ‘J.H.’ Cason Sr.

John Harley “J.H.” Cason Sr., 79, of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday morning, July 29, 2025, at Harborview Pierce County, following an extended illness.

 Born June 6, 1946, in Patterson, he was a son of the late John Randall and Edna Boyett Cason. 

Living all his life in Pierce County, he was a 1966 graduate of Patterson High School and worked as a mechanic during his younger years for Waters Ford before working as a carpenter for JP Barnard Construction Company.  

He was also a longtime farmer and enjoyed growing and tending to his vegetable garden each year.  

He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Davis and two brothers, Ronnie Cason and Raymond Cason. 

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Margaret “Margie” Tippins Cason, Blackshear; two sons, Harley Cason (wife Rebecca), Patterson and Patrick Cason (wife Heather), Blackshear; six grandchildren, Blaine (Maisy) Cason, Cruz Cason, Zayne Cason, Brayden Cason, Everlee Cason and Braely Luke and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. 

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 31, at the funeral home. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.  Friday, August 1, from the  Pine Grove Baptist Church.  

Interment will follow in the Offerman Cemetery. Sympathy may be expressed by signing online at www.hartfh.com.
