Special to the WJH
Nancy McGraw, a Victim Specialist with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, was a guest speaker during a recent Waycross Exchange Club weekly meeting.
McGraw, who serves the Atlanta Division/Savannah Resident Agency, shared insights into her work with the Southeast Georgia Child Exploitation Task Force, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat child exploitation in the region.
McGraw, who joined the FBI in February 2008, oversees a 43county area in Southeastern Georgia. Her responsibilities include providing direct support to victims of federal crimes, including violent offenses, white-collar crimes, elder fraud, and violent crimes against children.
With a background as a victim advocate at the Broward County Sheriff’s Office and a crisis intervention counselor at the Nancy J. Cotterman Center, McGraw brings extensive experience to her role.
She holds a BA in Psychology from Florida Atlantic University and has worked nationally with survivors of sex trafficking, participating in victim recovery operations during major sporting events.
The Southeast Georgia Child Exploitation Task Force, where Mc-Graw is an active member, collaborates with local agencies such as the Pooler Police Department, Effingham County Sheriff’s Department, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
This task force focuses on identifying and rescuing victims of online sexual exploitation and apprehending offenders involved in the production and distribution of child sexual abuse material.
Recent national operations, such as Operation Restore Justice in May 2025, saw the FBI rescue 115 children and arrest 205 suspects nationwide, including two individuals in the Southern District of Georgia charged with possession of child pornography.
During the meeting, McGraw emphasized the task force’s commitment to protecting vulnerable children through proactive investigations and community outreach. She highlighted the importance of public vigilance, encouraging reports of suspected exploitation via the FBI tipline at 1-800-CALL-FBI or tips.fbi.gov.
