WAYCROSS — Mrs. Betty Helen James, 84, died early Monday morning, July 14, 2025, at Baptist Village Retirement Communities.
Mrs. James was born November 8, 1940 in Dupont, Ga., to the late Leonard and Omanella Young. She was formerly employed at the King Edward Cigar Factory, but she devoted most of her life to being a devoted wife and homemaker. She deeply loved her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. James was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur LaVaughn James; and her siblings, Eisal Young, Bonnie Lane and Lois Corbitt.
Survivors include her children, Betty Lynn Griffin and Sidney James of Blackshear, Keith James of Villa Rica, Ga., and Cindy Crawford of Blackshear; grandchildren, Chris Smith, Brandi Smith, Tyler Crawford, Olivia Crawford and Kaylee Hooley; great grandchildren, Kirsti Smith, Jaylin Smith, Cole Herrin, Kenley Joyner, Jensi Smith and Rylan Crawford; siblings, Virginia Blanchard, Dorothy and Donnie Young; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held Wednesday, July 16 at Camp Branch Cemetery in Manor.
