WAYCROSS — Mr. Joey Brandon Nelson, Jr., 18, passed away suddenly Thursday, July 10, 2025 in Waycross.
Nelson was born in Waycross to Joey Brandon Nelson and Leighshan Pat ricia Thompson Edw ards. He was a 2025 graduate of Ware County High School where he was a member of the 2022 Ware County Gator state champion football team. Nelson had formerly worked with Kroger and Walmart in Waycross.
He is survived by his mother, Leighshan Edwards (Tribeyon) of Waycross; his father, Joey Brandon Nelson of Minneola, Fla.; his siblings, Jonah Brayden Nelson, King Edwards, Kawhi Edwards, Markayla Edwards, Rhianna Daniels and Da’Ziyah Daniels; maternal grandmother, Nova Thompson of Waycross; paternal grandmother, Jennifer Wells of Orlando; maternal grandfather, Jody Thompson of Waycross; great grandfather, Vonnie Wells of Waycross; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A funeral service was held Friday, July 18, 2025 at the Ware County Performing Arts Center.
Burial followed in Waresboro Cemetery.
