Burglary: Patrol Sgt. Brandon Taylor responded about 12:14 p.m., Tuesday, July 8 to the 3100 block of Bethany Lane for a report of a burglary.

The complaintant said a small safe containing an undisclosed amount of currency was missing from the residence. A window to the house was opened, the complaintant said.

The case has been assigned to Det. Antony Phillips for followup.

Sex offender registry violation: Patrol Cpl. Brian Newman was alerted about 2:30 p.m., Friday, July 11 of a sex offender registry violation by Anthony Tobler, 62, of the 400 block of Ossie Davis Parkway.

Newman was advised by the Ware County Sheriff’s Office Crime Investigation Division a sex offender was living at the address longer than 72 hours and hadn’t registered with WCSO.

Tobler had earlier been arrested by the Waycross Police Department on unrelated charges and was in the Ware County Jail. Newman served Tobler with a warrant Monday, July 14 at the jail on the charge.

Theft by deception: Sgt. Taylor responded about 1:22 p.m. July 11, to the WCSO lobby for a report of theft by deception in the 2700 block of Seminole Trail between July 3 and July 11.

The victim stated they had been scammed on Facebook or Instagram with a notice they had won a car, purportedly from Space X. The victim was prompted to download WhatsApp for messaging and contacted again and told to send money through Cash App for a Bitcoin purchase that would result in delivery of the vehicle. The victim said they sent approximately $1,500 through the app. A detective will be assigned to followup
