An abbreviated Red Cross blood drive July 14 yielded 50 good units of life-saving blood, officials said.
The normal eight-hour community monthly drive (10 a.m. through 6 p.m.) on Monday July 28 will offer citizens another opportunity to “save a life” during July.
The drive will be held at the Waycross Exchange Club meeting hall, 2401 Knight Avenue.
Locomotive Specialist is the monthly sponsor and is promising each donor a cash prize.
The 50 units donated at the fivehour, July 14 drive will be added to Monday’s total, providing Waycross an opportunity to stockpile an impressive supply of the “Gift of Life” for the sake of the Red Cross during the month. A national shortage in the emergency blood supply is now critical.
The goal of 35 donations at the July 14 drive was easily surpassed. Monday’s goal has been set at 90.
One hundred units (pints) Monday would give Waycross a July total of 150, a figure not reached in recent years. The Waycross community blood drive is the most productive monthly recurring drive in Georgia.
