Waycross Mayor Michael-Angelo James has again been honored by Marquis Who’s Who in America for inclusion in its annual listing of accomplished individuals across a broad spectrum of disciplines.
The Marquis list chronicled the lives of the most accomplished individuals and innovators from every significant field, including politics, business, medicine, law, education, art, religion and entertainment.
Dr. James again was cited for his leadership as an educator, pastor, bishop and municipal administrator for the city, where he is in his second term as Mayor.
With more than 35 years of experience across these fields, Dr. James’ varied career reflects a notable dedication to community impact.
As he continues in each of these roles, his discipline leads him and those around him toward growth.
Beyond his professional career, Dr. James is also involved in various career- related and civic activities.
Most notably, he has served as the chair of the region board of directors for the Department of Health since 2020, is the chair of the Environmental and Natural Resources Commission of the Georgia Municipal Association's Legislative Policy Council, and a member Special to the WJH of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.
Additionally, Dr. James is the author of several creative works, including “Trusting God to Supply Your Needs,” published in 2003, “Leader, Can You Stand the Test,” published in 2004, and “Just Because God Said It: A Journal of Prophetic Predictions and Pronouncements,” published in 2010.
For his various contributions to the community, Dr. James has been honored with several awards and accolades. These include, but are not limited to, an appearance in the Marquis Lifetime Achievers Book, reception of the Marquis Who’s Who Humanitarian Award and recognition as a Marquis Who’s Who Top Professional.
Dr. James credits his ongoing success to a relentless dedication to setting his heart and mind on work.
As he aims to move his community forward, he hopes to continue serving as a sociologist and is in his second term as mayor.
He has developed a pilot program to teach young people how to prepare for the professional world, remaining true to his origins as an educator.
