HOBOKEN — Mr. Jerry Wayne Dickerson, 80, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at the Hospice House Satilla following an extended illness.
Dickerson was born in Hoboken to the late Luther Emory Dickerson and Nancy Mayleen Herrin Dickerson. He retired as a cond uctor from CSX Transportation and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Blackshear.
Dickerson had also served on the Hoboken City Council for a number of years and was a former deacon at Hoboken Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Dickerson was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Charles Emory Dickerson and Luther Ladon Dickerson.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Dickerson of Hoboken; two children, Brent Dickerson (Heather) of Hoboken and Chrissie Rentz (Anthony) of Clover, S.C.; two stepchildren, Dr. Amanda Jones (Clint) of Erie, Pa., and Michael Letchworth (Emmie) of White, Ga.; three grandchildren, Caleb Rentz, Greyson Rentz and Lydia Rentz; two step-grandchildren, Laylen Letchworth and Lynley Letchworth; a sister, Margaret Stevens of Hoboken; a special niece, Linda Chesser of Nahunta; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Saturday, July 19, 2025 at the Music Funeral Home Chapel.
Arrangements were with Music Funeral Home.
