Rev. Dennis M. ‘Butch’ Hickox

HOBOKEN — Rev. Dennis M. “Butch” Hickox, 73 of Hoboken, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 16, 2025 at his residence after a brief illness.

Born in Waycross, his parents are Timothy Beal Hickox, Sr. of Hoboken and the late Myrtle Keen Hickox.

Rev. Hickox was retired from CSX railroad and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was the pastor of Spring Hill Baptist Church. Rev. Hickox loved the Lord and witnessing to people with all his heart.

Rev. Hickox, most of all, loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, his family and his little dog, Rascal. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, being on his tractor and picking on the people he loved.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Elaine Morris Hickox of Hoboken; two daughters and a son-in-law, LeeAnn Hickox and Velvet Harris (Roger) all of Hoboken; five grandchildren, Margie Sellers (Robert) of Hoboken, Rodney Harris (Mandy) of Hoboken, Jody Harris of Satilo, Miss., Bethany Wheeles (Chris) of Jacksonville, Fla., and Kiersten Simmons of Folkston; 11 great grandchildren, Madison Sellers, Caitlyn Sellers of Hoboken, Landon Wheeles of Jacksonville, Fla., Meia Lyons and Tryston Lyons of Hoboken, Ethan Wheeles of Jacksonville, Fla., Bailey Sellers, Tobias Sellers, Jasper Harris and Haden Harris all of Hoboken, and Benson Simmons of Folkston; his father, Timothy B. Hickox, Sr. of Hoboken; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Timothy B Hickox, Jr. (Mary) of Hickox, James Edward Hickox of Hopkins, S.C., and Bryant Ellis Hickox (Ann) of Hoboken; a sister and brother-in-law, Victoria Elizabeth Seaman (Steve) of Cleveland, Ga.; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

A funeral service was held Saturday morning, July 19, 2025 at Spring Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Johns and Rev. Cliff Adams officiating.

Burial followed in Spring Hill Cemetery with Military honors.

Pallbearers were Rodney Harris, Robert Sellers, Jody Harris, Chris Wheeles, Henry Strickland, Bryant Hickox, Jr., and Tim Hickox, Jr..

Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
