EIC honors roots as Hopper Chapel Emmanuel’s’ International Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, 600 Genoa Street, will honor its roots as Hopper Chapel in its 125th anniversary celebration with a special worship service at 11 a.m., Sunday, July 20.

Bishop Dr. Michael-Angelo James will speak from the church’s 2025 theme of “The Year of Deliverance.” Dinner will be served following the service as part of the celebration.

Dr. James has been EIC pastor since 1989.

Parkway Baptist has VBS July 21-24 Parkway Baptist Church, 101 S. McKinley Road, will hold Vacation Bible School Monday-Thursday, July 21-24.

A youth fun day will be at noon Saturday, July 19 for VBS registration. The activity will include games, water games, and lunch.

Bible School will be at 6 p.m. for ages 3 through adults. There will be crafts, music and Bible study nightly along with dinner.

A commencement service will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Gospel Tabernacle has Homecoming The Gospel Tabernacle, 904 Dewitt Street, celebrates its 67th Homecoming with special activities Sunday, July 20.

A worship program featuring the “Path Lighters” begins at 10:30 a.m. A congregational lunch will follow the service.

There will be no evening worship. Van Spradley is church pastor.

Way of Cross holds revival until July 30 Way Of The Cross Church, 512 Lee Avenue, holds a Holy Ghost Tent Revival through Wednesday, July 30.

The revival program starts daily at 7:30 p.m. The church’s normal Sunday service will continue at 11 a.m. Pastor is Mark Howard (904) 507-3054.

Youmans Chapel has special services Youmans Chapel Baptist Church, 3497 Dean Still Road, celebrates Homecoming Sunday, July 27 followed by a revival through Wednesday, July 30.

Guest pastor will be Tim Varnadore from Rose Hill, Va. He and his wife, Ciara, are natives to Blackshear and Waycross, respectively. Varnadore is pastor at Silver Leaf Baptist Church.

Homecoming service will be at 10:30 a.m. July 27 followed by lunch. Evening worship is at 6 0’clock and has been designated as Youth Night.

Revival programs will be at 7 p.m. July 28-30. Jimmy Thrift is pastor.

Suicide Prevention Walk set Sept. 13 The Second Annual Suicide Prevention Walk will be 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday, September 13 at Remnant Church of God, 3205 Memorial Drive.

There will be a host of activities in addition to the walk, which will begin about 6:30. Scheduled activities include finger and nail painting, free hot dogs, chips and drinks, an ice cream truck, gift drawings, guest speakers, information booths and Kimber Creations.

Hortense slates annual camp meet Hortense Wesleyan Camp, 395 Tabernacle Road, holds its 120th Annual Camp Meeting Thursday-Sunday, July 24-August 3.

The first service will be at 7:30 p.m. July 24 followed by programs at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. through August 2. The closing serviced will be at 11 a.m. August 3.

The Rev. Ralph Clayton and the Rev. George Holley will be the evangelists for the meetings. Arthur and Michelle Sharpe will be song evangelists.

DC Downtown has food ministry DC Downtown Food Ministry offers food items from a 5,000-square foot warehouse at 201 Jenkins Street from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
