Pierce County experienced a heat wave over the weekend with temperatures reaching the century mark Sunday, accompanied by high humidity and heat indices in the 110 degree range. The mercury read an even 100 degrees on the digital thermometer sign board at the Eagle’s Nest Storage in Patterson Sunday afternoon. Those working outside are encouraged to stay hydrated, wear light-weight clothing, use plenty of sun screen and take plenty of breaks. Afternoon thunderstorms are predicted later this week that could offer a much needed break from the heat.
