Pierce County Public Library holds art show

Talented patrons of the Pierce Library display their artistic skills with pieces in a variety of styles

Pierce County Public Library recently held a mini art show featuring several pieces contributed by patrons or made by attendees of various arts and crafts events over the previ0us weeks. Visitors enjoyed snacks and refreshments as they viewed paintings, mixed media pieces and marker illustrations.

Creators ranged from young to old and skill levels also varied. Purple seemed to be the popular color of choice, tying in with the recent Color Your World theme of the summer reading program.

In a case of grim irony, three of the featured artworks on display were by the recently fired branch manager LaVonnia Moore. Perhaps it was a sign that life goes on at the Pierce County Public Library in spite of the recent controversy surrounding her termination. Or perhaps it was someone’s way of saying they will never forget Moore and the many good things she did for the local library.

Purple Winter was one of several pieces to feature that color prominently and one of three different pieces painted by Michael Hunt.

Storm Clouds at Sydney Lanier by Kristina Davis was another purple themed piece.

Mountain Stream was another landscape painting on display by local artist Michael Hunt.

This untitled painting by former library director LaVonnia Moore could easily be the cover to a book itself.

This colorful character was one of several untitled marker illustrations from the prolific pen of Willow Johnson.

Sugar Rush by Ember Hunt looks very sweet!
