Steve Boatright of Blackshear received the first-ever Humanitarian Award from Memorial Satilla Health last week.
Boatright was one of three team members at Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross to have been recognized as Awards of Distinction recipients by HCA Healthcare.
Boatright most recently served at First Baptist Church of Blackshear where he is a member.
He is also a bus driver with Pierce County Schools.
Co-workers, patients, their families and visitors to Memorial Satilla Health all say Boatright is a dedicated “servant” at the hospital.
'Steve always arrives at the hospital with a welcoming smile and outgoing personality. His kindness, positive attitude and compassion are evident during every interaction that he has at the facility,' his nomination reads.
'Steve gives unselfishly of himself to our patients, staff and the community. He always arrives with a smile on his face and joy in his heart as he hands out candy and blessing prayer cards,' said a coworker. 'Steve's presence at our facility has changed the atmosphere and strengthened our mission.'
In addition to Boatright, Pam Jones of Alma and Lisa Grantham of Nicholls received awards of distinction by HCA Healthcare. Jones is a critical care nurse and Grantham is in the outpatient surgery department.
In addition to receiving the facility-level award, Boatright and Jones are also South Atlantic Division winners. They will be entered into the judging for the enterprise-level awards, which will be announced during an upcoming ceremony at HCA Healthcare’s headquarters in Nashville, TN.
“The highest honor in HCA Healthcare is to be named an Awards of Distinction Winner. In an industry where helping others is a calling, these colleagues stand out as leaders, helpers and healers,” said Hugh Tappan, Division President. “I'm excited to celebrate their unselfish attitudes and passion for others. I want to congratulate all the facility winners. You should be proud of the work you are doing at your hospitals and in your communities. You’ve made an impact on your colleagues and neighbors.”

Blackshear’s own Steve Boatright, chaplain at Memorial Satilla, was selected to receive the hospital’s first-ever Humanitarian Award.
