Rec Desk app online and ready to go

Pierce County Recreation Department’s new Rec Desk app is now online.

Recreation Director Maureen Brown announced at last week’s recreation board meeting that the app is now “live”.

Fall sports registration is now open, with an all-new, user-friendly online system to streamline the process for local families and athletes. The Rec Desk platform allows participants to register quickly and easily for a full lineup of youth and adult programs designed to promote health, teamwork, and community spirit.

This season’s sports offerings include tackle football, flag football, soccer, volleyball, cheerleading, 3 and 4 Future Bears (Introductory program), 5 and 6 big kickers (Beginner sports skills) and adult co-ed softball.

Regular registration is underway from now through August 3. Late registration will be from Aug. 4-8 with a $10 late fee. Families and players are encouraged to register early, as space is limited in certain age groups and divisions. With RecDesk, users can complete the entire process — from selecting a sport to confirming participation — online from a computer or mobile device.

The rec board approved purchasing the app for $5,700 per year. The new app is designed to help manage recreation programs. The app is accessible by phone and email and will allow recreation staff and coaches to notify parents about sign ups, schedule changes, field availability and weather cancellations.

Brown said the app should streamline the sign up process. She noted specifically the app will not allow registration to be complete until a birth certificate is uploaded and registration fees are paid.

“That will help us make sure that we have all of our paperwork on file and all our fees collected,” she said.
