Ware grad handling NIL deals for LSU athletes

BLACKSHEAR — JeMar Lincoln, a former Pierce County High School and Ware County academic and athletic standout, has been hired as the assistant director of Louisiana State University’s Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) Department.

“It is a great feeling to be doing something that I truly want to do professionally,” said Lincoln.

Lincoln, an all-Region football and basketball selection while prepping at Ware County High School, says he is thankful to have been raised in Pierce and Ware counties.

“It’s amazing that I came from playing in backyards there and attended Patterson Elementary and now I’m at a major, national university in Baton Rouge, Louisiana,” he said.

Lincoln said it’s proof that faith in God, good mentors and coaches and hard work make anything possible.

“I’m thankful for my relationship with God and for all the people who helped me along the way,” he said. “All of it has prepared me to work through adversity and has helped me to get where I am now. I hope to make a positive impact wherever I am.”

In his role with LSU, Lincoln is responsible for supervising 11 student interns and two graduate assistants.

He provides educational programs and resources to the school’s student athletes.

Additionally, he meets with administrative staff on current issues related to LSU’s continuous improvement efforts. Lincoln also coordinates podcast sessions with student athletes from different backgrounds and attends administrative meetings.

Lincoln pointed out overall, he just enjoys LSU’s upbeat collegiate environment.

The young professional says he is fascinated by the Tigers’ mascot.

“He is a real, live Tiger named Mike,” he said.

Lincoln did his share of seeking and searching before he landed at LSU.

He attended Pierce and Ware County School Systems and graduated from WCHS in 2017. He was an academic honors student throughout his entire athletic career.

His accomplishments in high school included academic honor graduate, first team all-region selection in football and basketball for both the Bears and Gators, and he received all-state honors while he was with the Gators.

Lincoln received a full scholarship upon graduation to Furman University where he excelled in academics and on the football field playing quarterback for the Paladins.

He was selected as the X Factor Southern Conference (SoCon) Player of the Week against the Citadel during his two-year playing career. His performance was a key factor in Furman winning the SoCon Conference championship title.

Lincoln transfered to Georgia Southern University prior to his junior year pursuing his passion for basketball. He achieved his goal of competing in Division I athletics in both football and basketball.

Lincoln was selected as the spokesperson for Georgia Southern athletics and was one of the guest speakers at the Donor Relations Appreciation dinner in Savannah during his time at GSU.

He then decided to pursue a master’s degree in Professional Communication and Leadership. Lincoln was under the supervision of legendary Eagles Tracy Ham and Adrian Peterson.

Lincoln says they, along with the athletic director and other key personnel, did a phenomenal job preparing him for life after collegiate sports.

Lincoln is engaged to fellow Georgia Southern alumnus Maya Herring of Albany. The couple will marry in August in Albany.

He, a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Patterson, is the son of local educators Jerome and Jeanette Lincoln and is the brother to Jaeden Lincoln.

Former Ware County and Pierce County two-sport athlete JeMar Lincoln achieved his dream of playing both sports at the Division I level. After a two-year stint playing football at Furman University, Lincoln transferred to Georgia Southern University to play basketball. SPECIAL PHOTOS
