Early voting ends Friday, July 11 for next week’s Democratic Party Special Election Primary Runoff for Public Service Commission District 3.
Ballots can be cast during business hours at the Ware County Board of Elections and Registration office at 408 Tebeau Street.
The runoff day is Tuesday, July 15 with all voting taking place at C.C. Mc-Cray City Auditorium, 865 Pendleton Street, regardless of the voter’s normal polling location. Hours are 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
Supervisor of Elections Carlos Nelson said state law allows consolidation of voting locations because less than one percent of the county’s active registered voters cast ballots in the initial primary last month.
Nelson reminded voters if they voted in the primary, they must have selected the Democrat ballot to be eligible to vote in the runoff. Those who did not vote in the Special Primary are still eligible to vote in the runoff, he said.
Candidates Keisha Sean Waites and Peter Hubbard will vie for the seat in the runoff after neither they nor third challenger Robert Jones gained 50 percent plus 1 vote in statewide balloting for the June 17 Special Primary. Waites totaled 47,928 (47.2%) to Hubbard’s 32,571 (32.1%) and 20,995 (20.7%) for Jones from the statewide total of 101,454.
