WAYCROSS — Kathy Freeman Varnadore, 55, of Waycross died early Saturday morning, June 28, 2025, at Memorial Satilla Health after a brief illness.
She was born in Tampa, Fla. to the late James “Sonny” Freeman, Sr., and Joyce Albritton Cox. Ms. Freeman had made her home in Waycross for most of her life. She was a homemaker who loved her family and any moment she was able to spend with them, especially her grandchildren. Her life made an impact, not only on her family, but on anyone she encountered throughout the day. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Ms. Freeman is survived by two children, Jeremy Sweat of Waycross, and Kristin Sweat and her husband, Jamie, of Blackshear; five grandchildren, Seth Hunt, Zane Cason, Blakeli Rentz, Kilee Sweat, and Kasey Sweat; one sister, Denise Middleton and her husband, Scott; one brother, Jimmy Freeman, Jr., and his wife, Susan; her stepfather, Raymond Cox, Sr., two stepbrothers, Raymond Cox, Jr., and Eddie Cox; her former husbands, Jimmy Sweat and Tim Varnadore; and numerous other relatives.
