Traffic stops end with 2 arrests

NAHUNTA — The Nahunta Police Department’s Crime Suppression & Intelligence Unit made two arrests following traffic stops for speeding.

Willie Vascal Mosley of Fort White, Fla., was taken into custody Thursday, June 3 and charged with Possession of Cocaine, Open Container of Alcohol and Obstruction of Law Enf orce ment. According to Police Chief Brad Todd, CSIU Detectives conducted a traffic stop on a 2011 Toyota for speeding at approximately 3:30 p.m.

During the investigation, the driver, identified as Ms. Mosley, was found to be driving under the influence. She refused to comply with lawful commands and became combative, throwing suspected cocaine under the detective’s vehicle during the encounter.

Detectives were forced to physically restrain Ms. Mosley to safely place her under arrest.

She was transported to the Brantley County Jail for booking procedures.

The Nahunta Police Department reminds the public impaired drivers put the lives of innocent people at risk every day. Through aggressive traffic enforcement and targeted patrols, CSIU Detectives are actively working to remove these threats from our streets before tragedy strikes.

The second arrest came Friday, July 4 when CSIU Detective Brandon Todd conducted a traffic stop on a blue Ford vehicle for speeding at approximately 8:45 a.m.

During the roadside investigation, Detective Todd located marijuana, drug-related objects and a firearm inside the vehicle.

The driver, identified as Michael Muhammad, 52, of Brunswick, was found to be a convicted felon who had previously served time in a federal correctional facility.

Muhammad was arrested and charged with Speeding, Possession of Drug-Related Objects and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

He was transported to the Brantley County Jail for booking.

“Our CSIU detectives are working tirelessly to identify and stop the people who pose a risk to the safety of our citizens,” said Chief Todd. “Every traffic stop has the potential to uncover dangerous activity, and these cases are a testament to the dedication of our team to making Nahunta a safer place to live, work, and travel.”
